New ATM technology allows customers to talk to a teller, enabling a wealth of functionality.

NCR has released details of the new ‘Interactive Teller’ technology which gives customers access to a human assistant via a video screen, at the push of a button. This enables a customer to do things that otherwise wouldn’t be possible, such as requesting a new card as an ID can be shown or the checking of cheques before they’re deposited. The teller can remotely access the ATM, controlling all functions.

Brian Bailey, Vice President, NCR, said, “We’re creating a personalised interaction that’s very secure, but also with very high functionality.”

The human teller will also be able to dispense cash denominations requested by the customer, make banking accessible for longer hours and transactions far quicker than previously possible.

350 of the Interactive Teller machines are now in service in the US.
