MasterCard names golfing star Sir Nick Faldo as ambassador

MasterCard has named golf legend Sir Nick Faldo as its newest brand ambassador.

The move hopes to expand MasterCard’s connection with its cardholders who are fans of the sport, with an official announcement due to take place at The Open Championship later today. The payments company have already expressed a huge passion for golf, having already appointed sporting stars such as Ian Poulter, Graeme McDowell, Camilo Villegas and five-time Open Championship winner Tom Watson as ambassadors in the past.

Alfredo Gangotena, Chief Marketing Officer, MasterCard Worldwide, said: “Connecting people with their passions while delivering surprise and delight experiences is the essence of what Priceless is all about. Golf continues to be a passion for our cardholders and the addition of Sir Nick Faldo to the roster of brand ambassadors represents a crown jewel in our campaign.”

MasterCard has sponsored a number of global golfing events recently, including the Arnold Palmer Invitational Presented by MasterCard, the PGA TOUR, the Champions Tour and The Open Championship.
